Ebay concert tickets query??

I purchased 2 tickets for a concert to be held on Sunday night, late last night on ebay. I paid promptly via paypal.
The winning bid was way below what I expected to pay for the tickets, and I assumed I had got lucky as it was a late night auction. My boyfriend however felt different, declaring " you will be lucky to get those.....he will probably send you a empty envelope"

This morning I have recieved an email from the seller, stating that instead of sending me the tickets special delivery, he would refund part of the postage costs, and send them first class.....I declined the offer, but now I have a bad feeling about the whole transaction.

Am I still covered by paypal, if I recieve a blank envelope? How would I go about proving this?

The seller had 100% feedback, but had not sold in over a year.....maybe I am stressing too soon!
I used to be Snow White, but I drifted.

special delivery won't protect against an empty envelope. Probably he is sending first class because the selling price was low and SD is no longer necessary.

He's the one taking the risk with 1st class - if no tickets arrive you open a NPS claim and get your money back. If you really think he is likely to send an empty envelope with SD your money would be at risk as Ebay would be likely to side with a seller who provides a valid tracking number.

Yeah - let him send 1st class standard. It's a no-lose situation. If its empty or doesn't arrive - guaranteed refund. If it arrives as expected, good deal :-)

1st class is not insured to send tickets (and they won't arrive in time), so the seller MUST send them special delivery.

In reality, perhaps they've sold them elsewhere at a higher price, so just want to send them 1st class so that they can pretend they got lost in the post.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

It's a shame that people are thinking that the seller is a scam artist. I sold concert tickets recently on ebay as a last minute sale because I unexpectedly couldn't go. The buyer got them for a bargain price but likewise I would have had to give them away to someone to ensure they wouldn't go to waste. The buyer was thrilled and I was pleased to get paid for them.

I recently won a coat for 99p from someone who clearly didn't know how to market the coat correctly. Exactly the same one sold, on the same day for nearly £40 by a seasoned ebayer.

    Win some, lose some. :o

  • Why don't you offer to pay for the special delivery...that way he will have no excuse about it being lost

In the OP, it says the buyer has already paid for special delivery, and the seller is wanting to send them first class instead, and refund the difference in postage.

Hence it smells dodgy, as why would a seller do this???

Insurance or special delivery etc. protects the SELLER, not the buyer.

That's the point of the thread, why would the seller suddenly decide not to use special after the buyer has paid for it? Just for a start if th etickets are sent tomorrow they are really pushing their luck expecting them to arrive Saturday.
