Cheapest Mobile Internet

Last year I bought the 3g dongle pre loaded for 12 months , I got 8 months from it and since then have just paid a top up of £10 per month for 1 gb , now I don't need more than than as its for the laptop which is used in the evening as son is on the main computer. so my question is can I get it cheaper than that .

I have just tried to do a top up and now it says I can have it for £7.50 a month for either 18 months or the same for 24 months , but is that the better way to go.

On the Three website a new dongle pre-loaded with 12GB valid for a year costs £79.99 or £6.66 per month so they are not being over generous in tieing you down to a 24 month contract with no new dongle and charging you extra for the privilege. Plus what happens if you exceed the 1GB one month? Out of plan charges tend to be quite high.

The real question though is why do you need it at all - why not share the connection with both machines?

Do you use it outside the home , I am guessing that you don't have a wireless router? If only for home use and you don't have a wireless router just buy an ethernet switch and a cat5 cable. If you want to be in a different room to router/son buy a cheap wireless router (and if needs be a dongle) or ask your ISP for a new router with more ports and/or wireless.

I brought a sim off ebay for £10 , it had 3 gb valid for 90 days Might be woth doing a serch.

Get a T-Mobile sim card and, after your first top-up they give you 6 months free internet (FUP).

I'm using this in my netbook atm.. I paid £5 in July.

Its a dongle. Just what do you expect a new one to be able to do over the old one?

But surely the speed on this is just like dial-up (I have one).
Also, T-Mobile don't allow you to tether it to a laptop.

T-Mobile does allow it - at least with my sim - and the speed is the exact same as mobile broadband. For me it takes about 40 minutes to download a 700mb avi file.

I can't download even 70mb in 40 minutes! Is it a 3G sim? Did you just put it in a Tmobile dongle?

It's a normal sim-card - the T-Mobile signal is HSDPA or 3.5g - just the same as in a dongle.

I don't use a dongle - my netbook has a built-in slot for a sim card. Even when I tether to my phone with a cable I get pretty good speeds, but not as good as my netbook's modem.
