Agree about Barry M. I can get a week out of a Barry M nail varnish, whereas I've maybe had about 3 days out of the best of the others, including the high end oness. I think I must have tried every brand going! I'm always amazed at the performance BM gives.

Another vote for Barry M here and then I put a top coat on every couple of days

  • 1st up is definatly rimmel pro, the coverage and staying power is fantastic then followed by barry m
    Lead us not into temptation...

just tell us where it is and we'll find it....
  • I agree with Barry M...they do great colours and is cheap too!
  • I had that problem too, would do a base coat, 2 thin colour layers and then a top coat and then the next day they'd be so chipped that I had to take it all off!

I read a tip somewhere that said that after you've done a top coat, leave it for a few minutes to dry then put your hands in a sink of cold water for a minute. Be careful when you dry them though as they still won't be fully dry!

I've only done my nails a couple of times since doing that but each time I've been shocked by how much longer they've lasted, and my job involves me loading and unloading boxes from my car so they get a bit of a battering!

No idea why or how it works but it does on me anyway, and it's worth a try as it's free :j:j:j
  • Oh, whilstI do like Barry M, I think my best make has to be OPI..ALways a great colour, and does last for a long time.
That said, in more MSE fashion, I have been building up my nail poliosh collection recently with Boots No7 as a result of all the vouchers which have been around recently!

    Oh yes, OPI
again if your willing to wait for delivery you can get them for the price of rimmel etc on ebay :money:
  • Years ago when I had the time, money and inclination to have salon facials......! The nail bar there used mostly Mavala polish. I've got a few bottles in various colours which I mainly use on my toenails in the summer - I like it because, the bottles are small so you can use it all up before it goes gungy and thick and the texture is quite liquid so flows nicely off the brush. I can usually get away with only one coat. Staying power pretty good, too. Current fave is M&S own nail polish - lovely colours, nice texture, inexpensive and BUAV approved!

Barry M - I think I've tried them all but this stuff is the best.
There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.
  • I think OPI is the best ever, but I've tried some Misa and Cele recently from eBay and have been really impressed with their longevity. I've got the Cele on right now. I painted two coats, with no base coat or top coat last Thursday night and it's still perfect except for one tiny chip on my Coke can opening thumb. :o
