Suffolk council plans to outsource virtually all services

This is just a Tory/Labour roundabout which takes a few years to do a complete revolution.
Example - a conservative controlled council voted to privatise education services. 700 staff TUPE'd to private sector.
During the contract the KPIs weren't being reached, but apparently it was due to lack of money so the Tory approach was to listen to the squeals for more money. It was the private sector delivering the service so they must know best.
Then the Tories were outed and the labour controlled Council voted to bring it back in house.
Staff were TUPE'd back to the Council, but in ten years staff numbers had grown to 1,500 (yes more than twice the number of staff who left 10 years ago) - this is where the extra money went.
Increase in profits? Of course. Improvement in educational achievement in 10 years? Barely noticeable.
You may be able to show a saving in year one as you have the figures for what it cost in Council control against a new contract price, but achieving and proving lower costs over 5-10 years is much more difficult to measure.0
