IKEA Kitchen planning - BEWARE!!!

Just a word of warning to those who drop into an IKEA store hoping to consult a kitchen planner.
I thought I'd done all the right things - Got IKEA brochure, went onto website and drew up (and saved) kitchen on kitchen planner and, then as instructed on website went into store to see planner. I knew there was no appointment system.
Made 30 mile journey to local store and arrived at 11 am. Told there were no planners free that day. It seems there is no advance booking system, but you turn up in the morning and add your name to a list. No times can be given as customers may take half an hour or well over an hour to draw up plans. No - you can't go away and come back later. You will be tannoyed in store, but if you don't turn up next person on list is called. Do they expect people to travel from far away every day in the hope of getting a place on the list? and even if you do get a place, you may have to spend the whole day in store. There is a service for booking a home visit at a charge of £50 (refundable on purchase), but I understand there is a long waiting list for this.
However, explained that I had come some distance and had plans drawn up, just wanted checking over, so assistant agreed to give me quick consultation. Plan was checked and order placed. If they hadn't seen me, I would have taken custom (over £1,000) elsewhere.
Don't know if this 'list' is policy in all stores, or just our one, but be warned.

we had a similar experience. Designed something using the on-line planner, saved it and went along to our "local" ikea (which is about an hour's drive). Anyway, no designers were available however they said that we could order the kitchen based on our design  and then they would send a designer round to check it - double
We lost confidence in the end and went elsewhere. Most bizarre kitchen design system we ever came across...........0 -
Our experince was totally OPPOSITE!!
Most helpful in Wembly, with no appointment, but around 15minutes to wait.
Went thru it all & placed the order there n then.
Also used the Ikea card to buy, so got the 5% first purchase discount, too!

I have been tempted by an ikea kitchen but the delivery charge of £60 just to deliver some doors really puts me off especially as i only live around 25 miles away!
I spent all last night playing with that damn kitchen planner and gave up in the end! The wall units kept on sticking to the other units when i didnt want them to!0 -

I had same problem until I discovered the instruction to hold down the CTRL key while moving the units to get more control over them.0
