How long does it take to claim?!

Does anyone know how long it usually takes to claim on contents insurance? Got burgled beginning of August, and are claiming like for like. It's annoying waiting.....bought a brand new TV and got burgled 1 week after receiving it.....and since then I have seen the TV decline in price dramatically!!....Fraustrating.......We just want our stuff back!

Really depends on your insurer and their agents, the type of claim, your claim history and a host of other factors.

There should be no undue delay in the claim process, and you should be given a rough idea when you first make the claim as to how long it will take. If you feel it is going slow, ask for an explanation.

There are many cases of people receiving their replacement items within days of reporting the claim however as gyzmo says these does vrey much depend on who your insurer is, who they have appointed to deal with the losses, the size of this claim, your claims history, how difficult you are being and in many cases what the general stock situation is on the items that need replacing (at there moment there is a 6 week delay on my camera nationally so it is never going to be quicker than that)
