Geothermal power

I'm moving into a new home soon and have always wanted to have geo thermal energy - or at least partial - to power my home. Other than it taking energy from the earth's core I know little about it. I expect it costs a bit to have installed too but there may be government subsidy - again I don't know and just beginning enquiries here. Be glad to hear from anyone who has it. Thanks.

    I think you may be getting confused between Geo Thermal energy and Ground Source Heat pumps.

    Would suggest you Google both and decide which one you really mean.

    Hi Catbells.. these people know more..though the spending review next month may scupper the whole scheme. Air source heat pumps are a lot less expensive to install.

    There was a very recent programme on R4 about this, seems 80% plus installers are incompetent and the installation is not as effecient as it could be

    My advice is wait until next Spring, when VAT is reduced on these, and a national compatance registration scheme is introduced
