both my daughters have one of these, one is fine but the other has gone unusable for the second time - can't start it up - before I contact DJ Henry she has some homework on it, can anyone help on how to get data off the hard drive?
Thanks ... Simon.0 -
The easiest way if it's not running at all, is to remove the hard drive and fit it into an external USB enclosure (2.5 inch for a laptop, and SATA if it's a recent one) - any computer shop should sell them. You can then connect it to another PC, and copy off what you need.0

Let D&J Henry know of the problem and advise them that you need to retrieve the data. Inform them that you intend to remove the hard drive in order to place it into an external caddy. If the are agreeable, purchase the caddy, for £3.50. When it arrives, remove the hard drive and place it in the caddy. You will then have a portable external hard drive. Plug it into a working machine and copy any important files over.
Alternatively, you can try to fix the startup problem, at least temporarily. What is the problem, in detail?0
