  • Hi

After struggling for a while with symptoms such as itchy rashes, sinus probs, itchy eyes, bloating, stomach cramps and others I have come o the conclusion it may be dairy intolerance.
Am hoping to stop dairy foods for the next few weeks to see if it makes a difference.
    has anyone any tips/recipes?

    many thanks

Hi, i have a carol vorderman detox cook book with recipes all of which have soya substitutions. Heaps of recipes - muesli, dips, soups, salads, dressing, pulse dishes, pasta dishes, smoothies, and some desserts. What are you looking for and i can pick a few recipes i know are good! Its all very healthy too and full of good fats.

If you are trying soya milk i recommend the unsweetened . Good luck

I was told, by somebody who tried it, to have a go at soya milk in tea first. It's supposed to be easier to get used to. Soya milk in coffee can be a bit of a shock to the tastebuds.

    Hello,
Search for Lactofree, they do lactose free cheeses, milk, yoghurts etc.

Aldi Jaffa Cakes - diary free!
    Ginger nuts - diary free.

Most soups have milk in them, except for the Heinz big soups.

Oh, and Rice Milk is a much better alternative to soya milk, especially in pancakes.

I've always found Rice Milk too thin, so it's definitely a matter of personal preference -- if you don't like the first diary-free milk you try, then try another. My absolute favourite is a particular brand of almond milk only available in the US. You can get other almond milks here but they are shockingly expensive. I have tried making my own but it had a lot of sediment in it -- OK for muesli, not so great for tea and coffee!

ETA: Oatly is nice too, but it's not available locally so we don't drink it as often.

Here is a recipe for homemade ricemilk (+ optional almonds) that I haven't tried yet but keep meaning to. (It's in the 2nd post of the thread.)
