But the cam sensor would.
The air bags just another problem they've had.
That aside, £200? OUCH Ok, it was a 2.0 1996 omega, but i'm sure I paid about £20 for one and fitted it myself. (LMF Vauxhall).
To the OP, my own 1999 2.0 V reg vectra (if we're all comparing faults) had the same symptom.
If it is, the code you get should say the MAF sensors faulty but removing the EGR valve, spraying it with wd40 or some carburettor cleaner spray a few times and refitting sorted it out.0 -
Vectra petrol with EML on? Cam sensor or crank sensor...0

Paperclip test will tell you. Mine came on and two garage's kept suggesting a range of different sensors ... just guesses really. I took a guess at the cheapest one (the MAF) and got it right. £25 and job done :-)0

Had the same problem with mine (1.8 16v W reg), took it to the garage and they put it on the diagnostic machine. First it said the coil pack needed changing, so they did this and the light was still on. Then it was the lambda sensor, changed it, light still on. The stupid thing threw up about 7 different faults and each time the faulty part was changes the light came back on!!
Turned out it was the ECU itself that was faulty!!
£600 quid for a new one!xxx Nikki xxx0 -
Hi Nikkisun, yours unfortunately is an example of a garage with a machine and no brain practising at the customers expense. Changing parts willy nilly in the hope of finding the fault is all to common from half-trained amateurs. Skill and experience would have targetted the fault more quickly and knowledge of a common Vectra earthing fault might have saved you hundreds. Please ask your friends/family and find another local independent who knows what they are doing.0

People, you should buy your own diagnostic software/cable from ebay - £25
Would save you going to vauxhall and them charging you £40 a go2x £5 JD Voucher
I want my Sledge Book & DVD0 -

I'm all up for people having a code reader, however unless you have the knowledge to back it up, it's not really worth anything.
Unless you want to start a very expensive "follow the computer" approach to fixing the fault.
