Pc World - 1 year guarantee?

I have a Rio Carbon MP3 player and its scroll wheel has just broken. I'm 2 weeks inside a year of ownership - am I likely to run into problems with Pc World when I take it back?
Regards

Jules

Depends what you want from them I suppose. If you have your receipt and the item came with a 1 year guarantee from PC World you should be okay. If it is a manufacturer's guarantee then I expect they will tell you to contact the manufacturer.

Not sure if the manufacturer would be able to replace it, only the retailer would have stock since Rio have completely pulled out of the mp3 market altogether and stopped making players ages ago.

They would surely only be entitled to a repair now anyway I would have thought.

I'm sure they are but I just wouldn't be surprised if they might run into trouble if they can't repair it and need a replacement or if they have problems finding spare parts. What you're entitled to and what you get aren't the same thing. I've seen first hand companies unable to uphold their end of the warranty agreement. Although I think Rio's parent company are a very good company so it should all be ok. I've got a Rio Carbon myself that I've had a couple of years and it's been great, but now knowing that Rio has gone into liquidation over a year ago I think today I'd get an MP3 player from a different manufacturer.

WOW! Pc World gave me an exchange on the spot! I wasn't allowed a refund (wasn't expecting one) but could exchange it for anything costing the price I paid or over. I added £30 and came out with a brand new 4gb ipod nano :) complete with a new 1 year guarantee!
