Roller Coaster Tycoon - repeated crashing

Hello, my son bought Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 (Deluxe edition, 3 disk set) yesterday.

Unfortunately, it crashes repeatedly, and we need to reboot the computer.

Any ideas what's causing this, and what we need to do?

Thanks in advance, and a cake for everyone who helps (I'm here temporarily from the OS board)

Making sure first that you are not connected to the internet first!

Did you install the game and both of the expansion packs? If so, try installing just the main game, and see if that runs first, then add the two expansion disks one by one, testing each time (in case it's the expansion that causes issues)

I wondered about the graphics card myself having had similar problems with Sims2 and an upgrade was needed :)

    tiptoes in to follow....

sort of why I asked about the PC make and model..wondered if it was "on board" graphics...on paper some games look like they meet the minimum spec for RAM but the graphics card grabs a slice...

  • Hi, everyone, and thanks for the tips so far. I have an Acer Aspire 5001 laptop, less than a year old. Does that give enough information for you to work out what the graphics card will be? I'll go and dig out the original spec.

Looks like it's an integrated chipset SiSM760GX. They're not usually very for games but I don't have any personal experience of them, maybe someone else here has.

I think it's the IG graphics section and the model number is listed there but maybe not worth risking getting the wrong one, as Browntoa says best trying to update from windows. It's not like nvidia's pretty much all in one driver downloads.
