I've had my letter to say they will pay it from the 8.9.10 - the day I claimed:j
Then it says I won't get the payment for the first three days of claim - ok, need to call them to find out why - any ideas?
Then on the letter which says about payment it says payment is from 17.9.10 and will be paid two weekly. Does this contradict that it is payable from the 8th? When can I expect my first payment?
Thanks for any help you give , this is a whole new thing to me.

The 3 days are called "waiting days" and nobody gets paid for those 3 days.0

Many years ago, I was told that waiting days were a throw back to when people were able to walk from one job to another, to put people off claiming for just a few days. I don't know how true this is but the rule has been in place since Unemployment Benefit began.
As for the other section of the letter, does the date of the 17th coincide with your first signing day? Could this be the date that your first payment will be due, as opposed to when you will be paid from?0 -
Had the interview on the 13th and first signing day is tomorrow.0

Did you receive any pay in lieu of notice or any other payments from your last employer? I haven't seen one of these letters in a long time, so if you could type the exact wording, I might be able to help a bit more. Otherwise, there will be someone along I'm sure, with more up to date knowledge of the letters that the Benefits Delivery Centre sends out.0

This is correct. The intent was to provide support for more long term unemployment and deter people from having a few 'days off' between jobs.0
