The question to which one was referring was:
'Do you work for the Nationwide BS?'

That's the first time anyone's suggested that.

You can;t really ask anyone that does work at Nationwide their wage - it dpends on several factors
if they are anything like my employer ( ex BS, now Plc) they pay the new staff more than existing (although currently going through a union review). When you do start, don't tell an existing member of staff what pay you get - it might, jsut might get their backs up
Do they pay a bonus then? Bank i work for pay a cash bonus and free shares, I have a friend that works at another bank who get a bonus, but only in vouchers0 -
To rs1,
I'm not surprised the new staff might be on more. From 1999-2003 most BSs & ex-BSs closed their final salary pension schemes to new employees, thereby saving a packet.
To have paid new & old staff on the same scales would have effectively discriminated against new staff.
The pay/pension issue has made the whole area a minefield with accusations of "two tier status" from senior & junior. The lawyers must be rubbing their hands in anticipation.
This may be slightly less of an issue at Nationwide - which in turn could help staff morale.0 -
I joined in 2002 - do not get final, but a few colleagues of mine do that have been there years
My bank keep on doing this emphasis on "Total Reward" - basically saying you get more than just salary grrrrr!!!! Its not a bad package and their pension contributions are good (I think)
I work for HBOS0 -
More grist to kenshaz's mill

I'm glad to hear that they look after you retirement-wise. What is the company's contribution?0 -
Ah he knows where i work
It can't be personal can it. I am a consumer on here. It does not mean i agree with everything my employer does.
I have good days and hell days at work = its life.
Nationwide branches always look a little dead to me. But my parents use them so have heard good things.
I can work out where many people work on here anyhow
