ASDA - charge instore price of items on day of delivery

I have made an online shopping order with ASDA (and I'm hoping it's third time lucky as my first two attempts were disappointing!) I've just noticed that on my list it says 'Please note that these prices are for guidance only. You will be charged the in-store price of all available items on the day they are delivered.'

I was just feeling pleased with myself because I mainly ordered sale items and rollback items, now I'm concerned that I may be charged extra on Friday:(

I'm starting to wish I'd stuck with Tesco. I already know ASDA don't have a separate section for substitutions so you don't have the option of returning them with the driver.

Does anyone know if there is a certain day of the week that they change their special offers? If it's Friday I may cancel:D

  • I thought asda have a section in your profile to accept/decline substitutions.

It's all or nothing tho, you either accept all subs or none, you can't pick and chose which items you will accept subs for and which you won't.

Not that it will do you any good, subs are only for when they don't have what your ordered, not when the price has gone up.

Oh yeah, reading it back now I kind of combined two worries in one! It's the price that bothers me, but I'll give it a go, and if they let me down again I just won't bother with them anymore.

For my first delivery with them I had about 10 items missing and was practically accused of lying by customer services, then the second time they sent me loads of items that were right or slightly past on their sell-by date and I didn't even notice till a few days later when I opened a skanky looking yogurt:D

It should show on your delivery note what your substitutes are, the driver SHOULD point these out to you when he gives you the delivery note (before the shopping) and offer to return anything you don't want (they should be scanned there and then). There is a place on the website to accept/decline subs, but that doesn't really mean a thing my old manager told us to send subs anyway regardless!!!! (I ignored him!)

As for the prices, I know offers usually change on a Thursday, but they run for various so not everything on offer will change tomorrow. You have until 5pm (?, unless it's changed recently) the night before you're delivery to alter it so you could check quickly tomorrow.

Tesco charge the prices on the day of delivery too, pretty sure they all do, so I have no idea why you are singling out Asda for your moan.

I think Ocado are the only exception.

I've just never had problems with Tesco and I use them all the time - and in fact Tesco do tell you before you confirm your order if an item will change in price before delivery date, giving you the chance to cancel it.

It's a case of 'once bitten' with ASDA. Twice bitten in my case actually, so if they botch this order I'll feel I only have myself to blame:D I'll let you know tomorrow!

Not always. Tesco do tell you if an offer is going to be finished, but doesnt state if an individual product will be more expensive. I ordered a bag of gala apples a little while ago priced at £1.30 and when they arrived the price had changed to £1.99. I had ordered on Wednesday for delivery on Friday. Now I only order on Thursdays as it seems thats when the price adjustments are made for the week.
:o Trying to become debt free but this site makes me spend a fortune!!! :o

Oh, I wasn't aware of this:eek: I've never noticed that they've taken more money out of my account than I expected but I will keep an eye out in future, thanks.

    I'm back:D

The cost I was quoted for my shopping with ASDA was £116.83, the amount I was actually charged - £132.04. To me that's a big difference. I'm sure that items vary a little day to day but when they are things you'd have bought anyway it's acceptable. When they are items that you are buying because they are on special offer you expect to be told (like Tesco do!) that they won't be valid 2 days later.

I'll consider that I brought it on myself as I haven't had a good experience with them before, and maybe it's only my local ASDA that is such an amateurish outfit, but they won't get my business again.
  • i orderd my shopping on a mon it was del tues my on line invoice said that fabric softner was 1.00 i was charged 2.19 my toal bill came in at 6.00 more than the original invoice a pound or too maybe not so bad but if everything went up that day you could end up paying who knows how much for your shopping .
