Lodger receipt

Options
Hi all - hopefully a quick question.

My new lodger has signed an agreement, and given me one months deposit.
I want to give him a receipt - and I was wondering if there is any form of words or specifcs i should or shouldn't put on this - or jsut a standard "received with thansk £xx as a deposit for the licence (?) of rear bedroom... blah blah blah..."

Any thoughts? Cheers muchly

  • Avoid words such as licence which can trip you up as they imply a particular contractual relationship which might not be what you intend. '£xx as security deposit for lodging at address'

Lodgers have a "license to occupy" :)

OP - give your lodger written confirmation of what the deposit may be used for and draw up an inventory that you both sign
