No, unless you have a greenhouse or some type of warmish protection, like a porch, conservatory

  • I have found the crowns grow back in spring for us! We are on the south coast though, but we did get snowed in last winter!
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D
  • I cut mine down to ground level a month ago and it has grown back beautifully. I dare say the first frost will see it off but I won't be sowing any more until March. I had thought of getting some seed going as an experiment soon (greenhouse to start with) and bringing it indoors to a sunny place to try it as a micro leaf for winter salad. I have a seed sprouter as well but not yet tried Chard as a sprouting seed.

I think its possible - correct me if I'm wrong - to grow pretty much any leafy green veg. as a microgreen.

I'll soon find out - as I'm growing cabbage to use as microleaves currently...

I always grow chard over winter. Tbh I can't remember when it dies down and when it comes back, but it is worth doing. Bit late though, you should get the seeds sowed in August.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
