tax credits - i am not now married........

I posted about a month ago for some advice. Need more help.
I have been claiming tax credits for myself and wife for several years due to disability.
Last summer out of the blue I started having trouble with my tax credits and they stopped altogether in Oct 05.I was getting different figures almost every day from the tax credit office.I have not had tax credits since, even though I am entitled.Am getting bills for allegeed overpaymants.
Phone calls by the dozen from me. letters appeals etc, but still no result until this August when letter from tax credits saying claim stopped because of 'marital breakdown'.
I was rather taken aback by this as me and the missus have been married without a break for 37 years.Have no idea where their info came from
Have lodged further appeal and am waiting to hear.
I am trying to work out how this info got on my file.Could they be running two files for me, could they be mixing me up with someone else? Has anyone had a similar experience and finally is there someone out there who knows how to get this mess sorte and who can I turn to.

    Hi,

As it sounds like it's got complicated I would take all your paperwork down to your Citizens Advice Bureau and let them speak to tax credits. They will be able to tell you what situation you should be in and speak to them on your behalf.
    Torgwen.......... :) ...........
  • Is there a Tax Credit office you could go too. This helped me with another of their mistakes, I was shown what had been put on the system then saw them change it there.

Although mine was more simple than yours I did have to claim financial hardship for a while due to there mistake.

You need to request from the TCO an overpayment dispute form and a Cop26 which will details your rights regarding overpayments.

Complete the form telling them you are still happily married and asking for your record to be restored if they have terminated it. Ask them also for a copy of all calls you have made especially if they say you told them you were no longer together.
