hi,
wonder if you could help (and if im in the right area!).
my sister leased a car for 3 years and gave it back they are now saying she owes 495 quid due to scratches but there was notrhing wrong with it.
they are now sending threatening letters asking for income & expeniditure. couple of questions:
can they do this?
does she have to pay it back?
if she offers £20 a month do they have to accept it?
what are her options? any help would be most appreciated.

income & expenditure???....need a few more details...doesn't sound like something that would come from a car dealer....
if she damaged the car, she is probably responsible for repairs
if the car was handed back...inspected...signed off....she cannot be held responsible...
what paperwork does she have?I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
shes offered to pay a smal l amount back but ive told her not to till shes sure she has to pay. ill ask her your questions, thanks for the quick reply.0

Hi
My advice would be to explain your stance to them i.e. you do not feel there was anything wrong with the vehicle when it was returned.
Things like this need to be proved if the company is going to pursue to recover costs.
Therefore, you need to request a copy of the vehicle condition report from when the vehicle was signed over to them on its return.
If this cannot be produced/located it will be your word against their's and in all honesty, they won't get very far with it.
Best of luck0
