Holiday Query

I've just booked a ski holiday for 3 people, two of us in a twin room and one in a single room. I booked on the internet having first spoken to an agent about availability and whether there was a single room available and whether it would attract an under occupancy levy. I was told there would be no additional charge as there was a single room available and they wouldn't be putting our friend into a twin. When the e-mail confirmation came through there was an error on it, we had all been lumped into a 3 bed room, so I phoned for assistance. The travel operators are now insisting that the single room still carries a 'single room' supplement. I maintain that as it IS a single room and is therefore not available to anyone else, why should we pay this supplement. Help, any advice?

Single rooms always hold a supplement im afraid

This is just set by the hotel or the tour operator, usually the hotel will only have maybe 1 or 2 hotel rooms that they will sell as a single occ. The room could sleep 2 more than likely they charge the supplement for them losing out on another full fare paying adult

If you booked on the internet, presumably you had to complete an on line form which showed 2 rooms being booked and a total price payable. If so, you do not have to accept one room for 3 providing you got confirmation of 2 rooms being booked. I admit that single rooms always carry a supplement but it seems you were told there was no extra charge before you booked, perhaps you should have booked on the phone with the person who told you so!
