credit rating help for newbie

hi,
I have recently recevied my equifax credit report and need advise on some things on there.
firstly there was a bank account on there that was never used. i closed this today with Halifax. With the same bank they have added my ex partner as a finanical assosicate, this was from a previous joint account they think, which was closed in 2008.
They had also linked her parents address (as the joint was set up when we were saving to move in together) from the joint account to my file which is still showing.
As the joint account was closed in 2008 and the unused account today, will that now remove the finanical and address link even though the unused account was solely in my name but set up at the same time as our joint account.
One more thing there is a agreement on my file that says no update recevied for months up to 2009. Will this affect me at all as the account was finalised and paid up back in 2009.

Hope this makes sence and your advise is greatly appreciated.

I believe you need to get in touch with Equifax and ask them to take off this financial link as the accounts are now closed and you now have no financial links to your ex so you need the financial link taking off your report

  • yes you need to complete a notice of dissociation to remove your ex partner from the file, the account that is not updating contact the company in question and ask them to mark it as settled if they dont contact equifax and they should be able to liase with the company and get the record ammended, I had the same problem with an old barclaycard that was not updating, tried speaking to them and they didnt have a clue what I was talking about so I contacted equifax and they ammended it no problem, hope thia helps.
