holiday cottage breach of contract

Hi will try to keep it short but would appreciate people's opinion as to whether I have a case worth taking to court.
Paid nearly £2K for a house rental, 5 families, 4 kids under 4. Before paying the deposit I checked the number of bathrooms, being such a large group. Had it confirmed in writing from owner.
Friendly correspondence up to the night before we left on the holiday.
Arrived at the house to find there was a plumbing problem- taking out a bathroom and loo, but plumbers coming in 2 days. Offered alternative property but this would only be available for 5 days and would require our party of 13 to then move back to the original property. One Mum visited 2nd property was dismayed at cleanliness and so we considered we could manage at first property for the 2 days with only one bathroom.
Very long story short, they misled us it wasn't a sudden problem they just hadn't finished installing a new bathroom. No plumbers arrived.
We were desperate for the additional facilities so got the number of their plumber and asked him to come in- this turned out to be every day of the week to finish off. This included turning off the water without notice while people were getting up, coming "home" to find 5 people unannounced in the house doing an unrelated job. There were many other issues with the house which I wont bore you with.
I contacted the owners by phone throughout the week we were there, after first giving me the plumbers number they never responded to any further calls. They never notified us when people were going to be in the house as I requested. They have ignored my emails and subsequent formal letters of complaint sent by Special Delivery. I have now sent a letter prior to action and the notice period is up.
I believe it is a simple breach of contract, we paid full price for a house that was not ready resulting in loss of enjoyment of our holiday and inconvenience. (Which they then benefited from as the next guests had the full number of bathrooms)
However if they state they offered us alternative accommodation (albeit unsuitable and inconvenient for us) have they done all they needed to and therefore we have no case?
I don't want to pay the court fee only to be told am wasting court time!
thanks
