Application for 0% credit card & new current account

You are probably unlikely to be on the electoral roll yet. Usually when you register it takes around 6weeks for your credit file to be updated (2-3 weeks for you local council to process the application and the electoral roll is then updated monthly).
But from September to December when the annual canvas takes place there are no monthly updates, so if you didn't make it on in August you won't now appear until Dec/Jan time.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Another problem you may have when applying for credit is that you have not been in your current home / job for very long. They could see this as a lack of stability, although the 22 years at your previous address may help off set this.
Since you have two current accounts, make sure you always apply for credit cards using the account you've had for the longest. This will also help with the stability thing, and you can easily move the direct debit later. If you've had both accounts for over 5 years then it shouldn't make much difference, but bear it in mind once you've opened the new account with Santander.
On your credit history only negative balances are shown, so there is no way of telling whether you are using the account or not. It would only have an effect if you applied for credit with HSBC in the future, as they're the only one who can see your account behaviour.0 -
2 yrs at the same job and 1 year at the same address is good enough for stability... As long as you don't move often which 22 yrs at one and 1yr at second address shows...0

- Haven't had a late payment in 18+ months. I believe around 6 months ago I accidentally went £30 or so overdrawn for a day or two.
- I earn £23,500 a year
- I have worked for this employer since June 2008
- I have lived at my current address for 1 year exactly. I live at my previous UK address for ~ 22 years
- I applied for the electoral role 3 weeks ago (I'm not sure if the council as action my request yet)
- So far in my life I have had 2 credit cards (1 still active with £2500 limit but no current debt on it), 1 bank loan (still active, see above), 3 current accounts (all 3 still active - only 1 being used).
I haven't applied for anything like a card or loan (apart from very recently as described above) for last 18+ months.
Ideas?
Thanks again for all your help and advice!
