Mrs X is in receipt of Severe Disablement Allowance, plus the age and care elements of Disability Living Allowance. She is 64.
Mr X is in receipt of Carers Allowance in respect of Mrs X, but will shortly lose this when he becomes 65.
The Pensions Service advise that Mrs X should be able to claim Attendance Allowance when the Carers Allowance ceases, though I know this could not happen until she is 65
Is this correct?

The are no age elements relating to DLA apart from needing to claim it before 65.
It is not correct, she would carry on claiming DLA once over 65, there would be no reason to claim AA if in receipt of DLA - you cannot claim both.0 -

Thanks for the reply, but now I'm puzzled - what then is 'Age Related Addition'?0 -
There isn't a mobility element to AA so if she is getting any DLA for mobility, it's important that she retains the DLA.
Mr X might be awarded an "underlying entitlement to carer's allowance" if their other income is low. This doesn't give the full amount of CA but will give a bit extra.0 -
