Transfering other peoples balances to my card?

I need to get my boyfriend a new 0% credit card to transfer his balance as he is at the end of his 0% period. However he has been refused for a new one with egg and cant apply to some because he already has has cards with them in the past.
If i get accepted for a 0% card woud i be able to transfer he balance from his card onto it?

Any ideas?

You might be able to do it but, if you read the many stories on here about taking on others debts you might not want to.

I would rather stick pins in my eyes than take somebody elses debt on because time changes lots of things.

    Hope you get it sorted.

A friend of mine did this for someone he knew who was in deep debt on the condition she paid the payments. Unfortunately did not get anything in writing from her so when she stopped paying for three months was left with nothing he could do apart from plead her to start paying again. His credit is now very mucked up due to her debt and its holding him back in a number of ways at the moment.

Yes, you can do this but be sure if you want to.
  • They might.

Whether you should is an entirely different thread. My advice? Don't.

    Do something amazing. GIVE BLOOD.
  • Bear in mind that you still can't transfer the balance if the credit cards you are transferring to and from are issued by the same company/group.

Heed the warnings; I couldn't advise doing it at all, you'll be exposed horribly if things go wrong. Help him out of his mess by other means, but don't take on his debt!
  • I think the OP's had enough dire warnings about this! Yep when it goes wrong, it's a mess. But certainly in my family/special friends we've moved cash around like this to save money and to everyone's benefit. No tears so far.

IF the amount involved is not too large and it all goes wrong, it can be a cheap way to find out that the relationship isn't right. Cheap compared with divorce after marriage/kids, shared mortgages and bigger financial commitments.

Sharing a bit of finance is a good way to test things...
  • Do not transfer debts to your account.

I think the clue is in the part where they say he's applied and been refused. 0% deals aren't all that easy to find and get, especially with a dodgy history.
