Buggy Fit / Exercise classes with babies?

Hi I have just heard about "Buggyfit" and others like it ( basically a postnatal qualified fitness instructor meets you and the class in the local park with your little one in a buggy and you do a workout with the buggy under their instruction). I was wondering if anyone has tried this and if it's any good. I am a qualified fitness instructor but cannot afford childcare in order to return to work so I thought this might solve the problem, any comments / ideas???
Thanks in advance

Sounds like a great idea. What about working where there is a chreche ? I know a lady I used to work with was an aerobics instructor and when she had her daughter she worked for the local sports centre and surestart doing classes there and her daughter was given a few place. One day I might be more organised...........

Hi I think its a great idea i have a 7 1/2 month old boy and would have loved to do these as also for me i had no childcare available during the day when i would want to attend a class.
However my local gym did offer a 6 week post natal course and you could take your baby along.
we just lined them up in their car seats and they watched us doing it, and they seemed to enjoy it as well as listening to the music.
So as well as the buggy fit , maybee you could rent a church or community hall and offer postnal excersises where mums could bring their babies along.
When my little boy was a bit older i used to just lay him on a mat and he was fine.
Had to stop now though as off back to work next week!
good luck.Grocery Challenge Feb 14 £500 / Spent £572.10!

There is a lot of demand for this I think and I am actually starting a class myself this week. The instructor charges £5 an hour(london) which is an hour of power walking with babies in pushchair and toning exercises in a local park, lunges, sit ups etc.. which is precisely what us Mums need!
Just cancelled a very expensive gym membership so this is very cheap and trying to fit in some decent exercise is now very difficult. Doing it with other friends has given us the motivation to get more active again and tone up!
For anyone near Canary Wharf, this is every Thursday from 3-4pm, meeting outside Zizzi restaurant.

Great idea, but I wouldn't do it for the sake of childcare.
When your child becomes mobile, you won't be able to keep tabs on them, and the old saying don't work with children and animals is said for a reason, they have minds of their own. You might think they'll oblige you an hour or two of good behaviour, but they sometimes think otherwise.
So yes, great idea go for it, but consider doing a childcare swap with a friend for the hours you are doing the work.0
