just dug up my deseriee spuds, whats wrong with them? pls help

dose anyone know what has happened to my potatoes, there not all like it!

  • I don't know what's wrong with them, but I have had a few similar to that. I just cut the bits off and still used them !

    I had this too, on some of mine. I just made sure I let them dry out quite well, and have used those ones up rather than storing them. They were perfectly fine once peeled.

    Scab. Just peel it off.

    means that your tats got too dry at some stage. next year, add some grass cuttings or a bit of garden compost at the bottom of the hole and it will reduce the problem.

    You do not need to dry them, just make sure that you harvest them on a dry day and keep them in paper sacks. If the weather is fine, leave them on the ground for a day before bagging up, as it helps the skins set.

    Scab, lots of mine turned out like that. I boiled them in their skins and then peeled them and used them as usual...i found them easier to peel when cooked first.

    Oh thank you for asking this! I got the same on some of mine that recently appeared out my compost heap! I did wonder but they looked ok to eat apart from that.

    I read somewhere this is to do with soil/manure touching the potato
