Insurance on New Property with No Postcode

Hi all.
Next week, I'm moving into a brand new house. Like most brand new houses, it doesn't have a postcode. I've contacted the Royal Mail, and they've said that once the Council have allocated the road name and the postcode, it'll be added to their database (I already know the road name and the postcode - I was given this information by the builder's sales people). However - the problem is that I'm trying to get house insurance sorted out, valid from the completion date, and no insurance company I've contacted will verify the address. Any ideas how I can get around this problem?

You cant,
Basically royal Mail sell updated postcode datebases to insurance companies etc however your postcode still will not show up on most sites until the company update their database, this could take years!!!
I moved into a brand new house 9 months ago and my postcode still doesnt work on many sites! it is getting better though!
Im pretty sure royal mail approve street names/postcodes and not the council so i would give royal mail a call.0 -
On our new build, the road names and plot numbers (later switched to house numbers) were allocated around the time the foundations were being laid. These things are normally prepared early on so they are in place before you move in.
Whilst many companies will take time to update their database of postcodes, it isnt a problem with house insurance though. Some companies (most probably internet and direct companies) may get fussy over it but brokers/advisers should have no problems placing it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Is it that they want an exact address and postcode, or is it for rating puoposes?
Would some accept, if for the latter purpose, something like NG5 1?0
