Home Insurance - New Policy - Buildings?

I've been insured for buildings cover with the Halifax for 25 years on the same property......they are not cheap.
If I switch to a different insurer and a problem such as buildings movement becomes visible, will the new company provide full cover for a problem that may have started when property was covered with the previous insurer?
The house is 50 years old and there is the odd crack.

If the house has never had subsidence, you can change Insurer without a problem. If a claim for subs arose shortly after changing, your old company would be involved in the claim.
If you want more information. Google ABI Subsidence agreement.
This is an agreement for ABI registered companies, as to how they should handle subs claims, when there has been a change in Insurers. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
as above. There is a clear difference between settlement and subsidence - if it was subsidence you would be able to get your finger into the crack and it will or will be about to present issues to the structural integrity of the property (may settle down and be fine in the long term after works even if major - google image search crooked house pub).0
