Chill out peops .....it looks like the site has crashed..............keep the faith0

We all know that sites crash when a deal is mentioned on MSE, we all know that we don't receive the weekly MSE email at the same time, so why complain? Some people get the deal, others don't. If were not one of the 10,000 so be it, next time we might be lucky. If you did manage to get the deal good for you, if you didn't, stop being so me, me, me.
Why complain? We should be complaining because the link from Martin's email said the offer wouldn't be live until 2pm today. (the ref to 2pm was removed sometime this morning - but loads of people had already read it by then)
But they seem to have all gone already (by about 9.00am). That seems like a fairly sound reason to complain!0 -

Hi all,
Just to fill you in... we held back on including the link on our discounts page until a later time to ensure all MoneySavers would have a fair crack at getting the voucher and to try and limit the amount of traffic going to Keynoir at one time. We were assured it wouldn't appear anywhere else.
Unfortunately the link got out so we had no choice to add it to our info so MoneySavers wouldn't miss out (we're as frustrated as you are). Keynoir's agreed that it will take down the link and put it back up later today (there are still vouchers left) to make it fairer and because the site is struggling under the weight of the traffic. We're hoping it's going to up the numbers of vouchers available.
Thanks
MSE Archna0 -
As the OP of this thread, I thought I'd just point out that it wasn't me who 'leaked' this link early. The link was posted on HUKD shortly after Martin's email last night and I thought it only fair that at least a few of us on here got a chance rather than everyone over at HUKD grabbing them (which would have happened if we'd waited till 2pm).
I'm not convinced that this offer is gone ... there were various people over at HUKD claiming to have bought hundreds of vouchers ... it wouldn't suprise me if some people have bought even more. Assuming keynoir limit it to one per person (and hopefully cancel all orders for more than one), they may release the greedy people's vouchers back into the system and a few thousand will become available again.0 -

Thanks for the clarification Archna.
Couple of questions arise:
Firstly why risk the link being leaked - why not just get Keynoir to agree not to upload the offer until 2pm? That way there couldn't be a leak. Uploading it early, so that the link is live but 'secret' is clearly too risky, if you're really trying to be 'fair' and it is totally unnecessary anyway.
Secondly, this is the latest in a spate of unhappy MSE encounters with these 'group-buying' sites. Surely they've all now proved to be untrustworthy, and surely MSE should never get involved with their promos again?0 -

While I understand the logic of this, I think that these promos can be a good thing. I first joined mycitydeal (Now Groupon) when the offer for the £1 Cineworld tickets was publicised, I had not heard of it before then. I have since used the website to buy cheap meals out in Edinburgh (where a meal out is normally prohibitively pricey) and shall shortly be getting a haircut for £15 instead of the normal salon price of £44.
I think that if MSE stop using these sites entirely then people could potentially miss out on other good bargains. Ok, they might not be as good as cinema for £1 or £6 Amazon credit for £1, but these are the offers to tempt us in. If they don't have good offers afterwards they won't keep our custom.0 -

I'm not suggesting that MSE outlaws the offers from these sites - all I'm suggesting is that 'special deals' from these sites, in connection with MSE, and specially promoted in Martin's email, have led to many problems, and reflect badly on MSE.
So surely it would be better to resist the special 'MSE' promos (like this Amazon one, which was supposed to be unique to MSE but clearly wasn't, and was supposed to work to a fixed, fair, timetable, but clearly didn't).
But still mention good deals when they arise - just not branded as 'MSE' specials - as that always seems to go wrong.0
