New Car Warranty Problems

Just wondering what the concensus is on how patient it is 'fair' to be with warranty issues on a new car.

If, for example (and no, this isn't purely hypothetical), over a three year warranty your (brand new) car had experienced 15 warranty issues, which had meant it had been in to the dealer for fixes on 16 occasions, which in turn had added 600 miles to its odometer, cost you 1200 miles worth of fuel, and 60 hours of your time, how would you be reacting, and what kind of compenstation would you expect?

And would you think it reasonable if the dealer openly told you that once the warranty runs out next month, any of the issues that they have failed to fix for the last three years would officially be your problem, as once the warranty is over they will accept no responsibility?

  • tbh I think I would have sorted the issue out before I'd had the car for 35 months.

what sort of issues are we talking about ?

Faulty boot mechanism (refusing to open), rattles and clunks from the roof, squealing brakes, wind noise from windows and roof seals, water pooling in the door sills, broken lock to glove compartment, corroded body work, faulty exhaust pressure sensor, roof leaks, faulty alarm sensor, failed handbrake, water leak into boot, faulty exhaust temp sensor and uneven wearing to tyres.
Nothing dangerous, but irritating nevertheless. It wasn't a cheap car either.
