Twitter problems

Don't suppose anyone on here knows an email address for Twitter support? Looked all over the place but can't find one. Logged in earlier and my account got affected by that virus, now my account's been deleted - and Twitter's useless help section tells me to log in to send a support ticket, even though I was looking at the page that tells you what to do if you can't log in... grr!

  • ? your account can't be infected with a virus which would then delete it.

Cleared out your browser cache and tried again? What software do you use to view Twitter?

I wouldn't hold your breath anyway. I reported a security flaw to them months ago, where when you're logged in and go to change your security details like password etc, it sends this is plain text so anyone sniffing traffic on your network can get your password.

I did a vid a while ago to explain it.

Even does it on the change password page which is BAD. It drops the S off HTTP so everything is going through unencrypted

    Anyway try this page

Well, whatever's happened, someone's deleted my account and it ain't me! Nothing to do with anything I'm doing, my account's just not there anymore and it happened when that virus was all over it this afternoon.

Thanks for the link - when I looked all over the website I couldn't find that - if you go to their main page and 'contact us' or 'help' it takes you to some crappy FAQ section that asks you to log in. Didn't think to try the obvious and just type /help - you'd think the 'help' link would do that for you. I hate websites that make things harder than they need to be.

I didn't find it either :) I had to ask over at Hak5 forums when I found the security flaw because I wanted to report it :)

It's possible someone hijacked your account and did it. But Twitter may have backups so maybe able to restore it.

This is what was going on today

  • Glad it's not just me then - I was literally going round their help section for about an hour trying to find a contact form or something! I'll have to remember this if I have the same situation on any other sites in future :)

Possibly that then - I don't know. I just hope they can get my account back because when I do try to log in I get a scary message that's all "What are you doing you moron? You deleted your account! Oh yes you did! And here's the message YOU agreed to that says you can never get it back, mwahahaha!". Or something along those lines, anyway...
  • From the Twitter site itself? Download Twirl and add your account and try and login with that. See if that gets you in.
