Staples: Chair: Screws missing....

Hi,
bought a chair from staples, got home, and theres a whole bunch of screws missing. This is the second time ive purchased something from staples, and its been either part missing or faulty. The previous time i had to pay for postage while they refunded me for faulty good.

Its quite far for me to drive, and I will have to make another trip to pick up the screws. So annoying and time wasting and my car is playing up too.

Should they offer me a discount? I will surely ask for it. And if they refuse, complain? How shall i play this? Would it be too much to ask for a full refund as well as the correct screws and i keep the current chair? (£45 chair).

My back is hurting from all the heavy lifting, and now the chair is half set up, I dont want to have to dismantle, carry it back, drive, carry another one back. Nightmare. The escalator is not working in my building.

Thanks.

  • Have you phoned the store? I feel this may be a situation best dealt with by the store manager, as I'm sure he/she would offer you the pack of screws without having to bring the chair back.

Doubt they'd give you a refund AND let you keep the chair AND give you the correct screws.

If the above fails, call Head Office. Once, we bought a bed and found it with missing panels. Phoned the company concerned, who couriered us replacement panels out within a few days.

  • thanks.
    Yes, Ill call them tmrw.
  • Have you looked in the box for the screws?
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?
  • right, i called them up, the guy said the screws were actually screwed into chair already, so i had to unscrew and fit it all together and then screw back in. Strange. Not straight forward at all, the instruction said x amount of screws should be there, but only one was in a packet with alan key and other caps.

    Thanks to all.
