tRYING TO INSTALL PC CDROM...HELP!

My son got a cd rom for his birthday and it won't install. Problem with .NET framework 2.0. Says I need to uninstall but looking at control panel, there are quite a few versions of this, all of which won't allow me to uninstall anyway.

Can anyone guide me through this.?? I am on windows xp, which game says is suitable. Get right through the installation wizard and only to find it won't install right at the end.

Would really appreciate your help.:T

What game is it and what version of .NET do you have plus the exact error message would help.
  • It is Deal or No Deal.

    message says:

set up cannot continue because this version of the .NET Framework is incompatible with a previously installed one.

    It then refers me to:

Are there any .NET framework updates available when you run Windows Update?

Each newer version will supersede the previous version, so the question is: Is the game request .NET framework 2.0 be installed?
  • No, but I can see in the program list I have lots of .NET listings:

    1.1
    2.0 service pack 2
    3.0 " "
    3.5 " " SP1
    4 Client Profile

    Do I need all these?

According to the above you have dotNetFx35setup.exe installed.

Are all the latest service pack and critical updates for your version of Windows also installed ? on your computer ?
