want to switch suppliers, whats your advise?

Hi
im currently on EON standard and British Gas Standard. Ive done some searches on the comparison sites and know i can get a better deal. ( i think) But they all use different wording and i think if im not careful i will be caught out, and end up paying more.

eon offer duel fuel at normal up to 2680 kw annually at 5.545.0, Then the normal rate is 2.5735 on Gas
and their electricity is Normal up to 900k 15.76.05 the their other normal is 7.959.

Bgas offer
tier 1 gas 6.53 per kw for the first 670 kw per qtr
tier 2 2.796

elect tier 1 22.446
tier 2 9.012

to me eon looks better, but how one words it annually and the other qtr, i don't want to get caught out.

Last yr i used 5153kw in the year for electric
The gas was 15684 kw for the year.

Can some give me some advise on what to do. Sorry to be a pain.
Things will get better day by day.

Don't bother trying to compare tariffs. They are deliberately designed to confuse and stop you working out the best deal. Use a price comparison site, just input your consumption and let it do the work ( try a couple of different sites to be on the safe side).

I would go for save online v3 with eon. their customer service is the best out of the top 6 plus they have a no nonsense approach tocustomer services, they will set your DD at whatever level you want as long as you're happy to pay off any deficit at the end of each bill.

Also you can get your free energy saving monitor which is a hell of a lot better than BG's.
  • Maddipops,

the official eon reps on this board always recommend customers enter their annual usage in kWh into a price comparison site to get the most accurate quotations. Once this has been done the terms and conditions of each deal need to be looked at.

I assume from your other posts that you work for eon, but you are here in a non official capacity seeing as you are not an offical company representative. If you are blatantly trying to promote eon you should make it clear you work for them.

I myself have always had excellent service from eon, but simply saying they have the "best customer service out of the big 6" is YOUR opinion. In fact the customer satisfaction surveys are normally topped by Scottish and Southern.

TO answer the OP's question, the difference between annual and quarter shouldn't make any difference. Just multiply the thresholds by 4 to get your annual threshold.

I've just done exactly this for the first time tonight - I've been meaning to do it for months (about 9!) but never quite got round to it. Swicthing to Eon's SaveOnline v3 tarriff.

Get on uswitch.com and put in your annual usage figures. Then if you want to switch check for cashback via Quidco or one of the other cashback sites and go through them to hopefully get a little (or not so little!) bonus.
  • First off, please use energyhelpline not uswitch, one thing i've noticed is energyhelpline will tell if the cheapest you can get is with your own company while uswitch usually leaves yours out of the top, had plenty of people where i work go "Yes i saw my own but they was way down the list" when i can clearly see who they are with is at the very top,

To help you out saveonline v3 is a great tariff, usually the cheapest, shame you missed out on v2 because that was crazy cheap, nearly always cheaper then bg's online tariffs, and to stop people saying i am promoting one company, look into edf's online tariff maybe even their sainsburys one if you collect nectar points or scottish powers online one, basicly these 3 are nearly always on top in terms of the cheapest online tariff, also with the customer satisfaction issue, E.on are good but scottish and southern take it a few steps further, cutomer service is down to the customer, some people have great experience's, some don't so don't take that into too much consideration
