Very disapponting service from Natwest PRIVATE Banking.

I phoned my Natwest Private Banking team today to request that my monthly direct debit for the Private Banking service be collected from my account a day after it is currently. This is to co-incide with my salary being paid in a day later than in the past and I did not want to go overdrawn - (as experience has taught me that even going over the overdraft limit for a few hours results in extortionate fees).
I thought this would be a formality to amend but instead I was given an extremely wooly explantation that it was not possible. I suggested politely that they were being unflexible with this but the contact re-iterated hat it just couldn't be done!
There is still over a week to go before the transaction goes though and with no means of paying anything into my account before my salary is paid in, I'll just have to take the hit.
So much for service and at £19.95 per month! Anyone thinking of becoming a Private Banknig member, think very carefully!

It's not a Direct Debit, they take it as a charge. and Natwest take their account charges out 21 days after your statement date. so no, they couldn't change it :)

You could try changing your statement date but it might not kick in in time.

Agree with Kavanne. Ask them to change your statement date and it will change you charge period date.
    Best Regards

  • Surely if you are a Natwest Private Customer, and as such either earning £75k or have savings of over £50k, you could arrange for your account to have more than £20 in it to prevent going overdrawn?!

If I was in the situation that a charge of £19.95 was ever likely to put me into unauthorised overdraft I would seriously question whether I was a suitable client for a private banking service costing me £239.40 a year.
