House sale and noisy neighbours

I have also thought of soundproofing but from what i've read it is not that good,it could end up costing thousands and make no difference. Are there any flat owners out there who have had extra soundproofing installed that has made a difference?0

Hey David, just seen your last post. Yes, I had soundproofing put in when I had my flat refurbished.
The noise in my case comes from below, and it hasn't made any difference at all! I was told (and I'd previously read) that it's a lot more successful soundproofing the ceiling (if your neighbour noise is coming from the flat above, obviously!) than doing the floor as I did. I knew it might not make much (if any) difference, but thought it was worth a try!
I also had the wall between my house and the next house done (mine is a top floor flat in a Victorian terrace) and that WAS successful!
I don't think you've said if your dodgy neighbours are above or below your flat?0
