I think i've mucked up

Hi everyone, thanks for looking. I think I may have mucked up on my postage. I was posting 8 parcels today, all books and dvds so all similar sizes. I used the machine at the post office and when it printed off my postage, for some reason it didn't print them off in order. So I wasn't 100% sure what postage went with which parcel. So I weighed all my parcels again but this time, some of the prices the screen displayed didn't correspond with the postage I printed off the first time! Anyhow, there's a few parcels i'm concerned may have the wrong postage attached to them now. Not sure what i've done wrong. Just wondering what the best way is to resolve this. Should I email all these buyers in advance and say I may have made a mistake on your postage, or should I wait until they contact me if/when the problem arises. Really concerned that they will have to pay more and then give me bad feedback (deservingly so.) I am a relatively new seller with only feedback of 30 odd.
I have learned my lesson and will go to the counter next time!

machine at the post office ?
what is this, never seen one of themWWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0 -
New one on me to, would have thought though that the books would be heavier than the dvds, so that should have given you an idea.0

Just how off were some of the prices and how expensive are the parcels?
If there is insufficient postage on the parcels the person at the other end will be charged the shortfall plus and administration fee of £1. This could have a serious impact on your feedback. I know that I wouldn't be giving positive feedback if I had to travel to the depot to collect and ended up having to pay extra on top.
On this occasion I would suggest either going back to the post office to check or adding some extra stamps to be sure.
I would also flag up that there is a fault with the post office to avoid this happening again.0 -
It may also be useful to know that some post offices sell boxes/envelopes the correct size/shape for DVD's with the postage already included so you can pop them straight in the post.0

Iv'e never heard of a DIY machine at the PO either...It might have been better to do them one at a time so you knew what postage was for which parcel..
I have only ever given my parcels to the lady behind the counter who weigh them , stick on the labels and give you a receipt.0 -
There are DIY machines in post offices that have been refurbed (generally only BIG post offices though)
They introduced them in our main post office about a year ago - and they are great for quick posting - although I'm
not sure that you can get proof of posting from them? Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0 -
I have never heard of self service machines at the Post Office either.
If they are anything like the supermarket checkouts, then they're probably a load of carp.

I use them quite a lot, and I've never had a problem. They have a scale, a letter gauge and a touchscreen, and the postage is printed onto a sticky label.
Reading PO got them a while ago, and they make it so much easier and quicker to use the post office. I love them. However, yes, you will have to take your items to the counter to get proofs/certificates of posting."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

i use the self service machine now and then, never had a problem with the weight/prices but i do agree the way the labels come out in no particular order is annoying0
