Hi,

Has anyone been to Morocco in December?

Just wondering how warm it actually is there.. internet says 20-25C, but does it feel warm enough for swimming?

Does anyone know for sure?

Thank you

Morocco is a big place, will different climates!

I have been to Marrakech in early Feb and it was warm, but not warm enough for swimming. Also, the nights were very cold so you would need to take layers.
    Gone ... or have I?

I went to Agadir the week before xmas last year. We were swimming in the outdoor pool at Caribbean Village with First Choice. The pool that was open was heated, the others were closed.

Sunny down the beach, t-shirts and shorts everyday.

So Egypt is better option then.
Anywhere else you would go, apart form Caribean, Africa & India? I would like to go to Goa again, but we are going to wait for last minute and for Goa you need Visa... Don't think we would make it. It would also no longer be cheap holiday:-)) So looking for somewhere cheap and cheerfull (ie hot)

Again, Egypt is a big place!

You do realise that Morocco is in Africa?

I wouldn't normally suggest this, but I would sit down with a travel agent and see what they recommend, and then come back here to narrow down your options with a bit more of an informed idea?

    Not
Did you get up wrong foot first?

I don't want to go to travel agent, that is why I am on internet. Travel forum for that matter.
Asking where is hot enough in winter.
  • I think you read that entirely wrong, there was no malice in the slightest in what dmg said, sounded like he/she was just trying to help!

I went there at Christmas 3 or 4 years ago. On the coast it was springlike but a bit windy, in the south of the country and in the mountains (Merzouga & Ouarzazate) it was freezing overnight. Definitely layers required. As to whether it was warm enough for swimming, that's debatable - I thought the sea was fine (at Essaouira), but I also used an unheated pool in one of the hotels we stayed in. The pool was definitely on the chilly side (so much so that I had it to myself), and didn't encourage lingering, but if you simply wanted to do lengths like I did, it was fine so long as you kept moving.

Latest I've been to Egypt was Oct/Nov, and that was definitely fine for swimming in the Dahab/Sharm area.
Another recommendation for winter warmth is Oman which, again, was lovely weather wise at the end of December.
Presumably Dubai/other UAE would be similarly pleasant.

Oman? That sounds very good, somewhere I haven't considered at all, I will check it out.
    Thank you

DeeDee-maybe. However agent hasn't helped me at all so far, it's all "that depends " (how hot u like it) so I am looking for some actual experiences...

I am not all that well traveled so have no idea how any countries "feel" in regards to temperatures. Temperatures on different sites also vary, so that is not helping either. Some say Egypt 25C some say 20C (for Sharm).
