Should I be worried about my credit report?

I was applying for a Debenhams store card (and did not want a credit card) but was refused. I went instore and online as well.
Debenhams have stated:
"After reviewing your details, we are unable to open an account for you at this time. You can find an explanation of the decision by downloading the document below. It will also tell you who to contact to get a copy of your credit report."
I clicked on the link which leads me to the satander website. No decision is explained.
I have had 1 credit card:
Natwest- is not activated and not been used at all.
Additionally, I have a student natwest account. There are two accounts, a savings and and a current/student account with an overdraft facility of £500. When ever I use my overdraft, I made sure, I paid it back.
Although,I have a Burtons card.
All, I have ever used my Burtons Store card is for discounts. I contacted them, they said everything is fine and there is no problem and my account balance is zero (what does that mean?). I believe at one stage there was a limit of £150 (they put in),I used it once but paid it back within 2 weeks.
How come, I am accepted for a Burtons card and not a Debenhams store card?
Should I have a right to be worried?

It could be for a whole host of reasons. And the reason you got one store card and not the other is that each lender/creditor makes their own decisions about who they lend to.
Are you a student?, some will not give credit to students. Are you on the electoral register? Are you employed? Even if you are not using the credit that is available to you, the ratio of "available" credit to your income is considered. Do you have any late payments on your bills? Defaults? Are you financially conected to anyone with a poor, or less than perfect, credit history? Have you applied for a lot of credit recently, even if you've not used it (as these searches by other lenders, or potential lenders, will show up on credit reports)
The best option you have is to check your credit reports from the 3 credit reference agencies - see martins info on the main site0 -
It looks like you take out cards and don't use them.
That doesn't make you attractive to a lender.
There is probably nothing wrong with your report.
But you probably don't fit the desireable profile of some lenders.
There is a credit crunch right now so lenders are being very picky as well.
Lots of people with good historys are getting turned down.
So probably there is no problem, but that doesn't mean it's easy to get credit. It quite hard to get credit right now, even for people with good histories and high salaries.0
