Scottish Power just phoned re John Lewis 3k competition

They said that I had made it through to the final round. I thought competition were usually win or not win - I was a bit suspicious, but they didn't ask me to change energy suppliers or say anything other than I had made it this far and to check my email address.

Has anyone else had this?

I had about 10 missed calls from them yesterday! I googled there number and knew who it was.
In the end couldnt stand them ringing so answered, he said something along the lines of "you have entered a competition to win 3k" i said "Did i win" he said "Well, we thought we would ring to give you a quote on your gas/electric" I said again "Did i win the comp?" He said errr no....
I hung up!

Not sure about the checking your email? Have you checked it???? Maybe you were luckier than me! lol

Almost certainly junk, you and everyone else will have made the final round, now you just need a quote for your gas/electric from Scottish Power to keep them happy (no difference to your chance of winning).
These people (SP) go on and on and on, the "competitions" are usually promoted across 10's if not 100's of websites with only the one prize, from just the "My Offers" site they probably get 100,000's of entries.

Got a call, the guy mentioned the competition and just asked me few question of current supplier etc. When I told him what I was currently paying he said I was already on a very good deal and they could not better it lol. He said he'd put me in the hat for the £3000... bah

I told them I would happily change to their company for my gas and electric IF I won the competition :rotfl:I said 'gimme what I want, and I'll gve you what you want' That got rid of him pretty quick!:p

i had a phone call from them a few days ago, but when they realised i was from northern ireland they said it didn't matter as they weren't over here... but they did say it wouldn't affect the chance of winning....

That's what confused me, they phoned but didn't ask any questions at all, they didn't try to sell me something, ask who my current provider was or anything - seems a bit of a waste of a sales call if they set up these competitions in order to get details on potential customers!
