Car Insurance - Mileage increase question

Hi

I have a quick query that i need some assistance with.

I renewed my insurance in June to cover me for 7000 miles which is based on my last 2 years. However since July I have covered 4500 miles due to travelling to see family who are ill.
This situation could continue for some time or it may have cleared up by January.

My question is when should I tell my insurance company regarding the increase in mileage? Should I wait until I hit the 7000 miles and then see where the situation is or should I tell them now and approximate what I might cover?

What I dont want to do is to fork out for say 20000 mile as if this continues I could hit that when I only do 10000 by my renewal. More over I dont want to say add an extra 4000 to then go over again and have to pay a second admin charge.

Any advice would be welcome

Phone the Insurers and explain the situation. They will probably want you to increase the milleage, the Insurance premium is in part, based on. So there will be a slight increase in premium.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Yes, you agree to 7000 miles a year, once you are closing the gap, then you should let them know, if not, you are still within the said limit, no matter what time of the year you are in. Plus, even if you went over, its not that much of a biggie.
