Voucher Number Counting Software

We are inviting each guest at a wedding to a free drink.

I need to create and print off 250 numbered vouchers but cannot think of anything that adds an automated count to a voucher that I create in publisher etc (just in case anyone thought of using a photocopier for extra free drinks).

Rather than go to a printer I hope I can count on this forum to help me out.

Please...

Mailmerge in word can do this. Not an expert myself though I'm sure someone else on here will be able to help you.
  • Mailmerge in word was my first thought too for most people with office.

My nvq days with word and excel were a long time ago and i dont use either package much but can't you create a 1 column spreadsheet with a column heading and 250 rows just with 1-250 in them. Then use that as the data set in the mail merge in word.

I should think open office would be much the same and if you are on linux there will be a million ways to do it.

Or just thought about using the page number in the footer in word ?
NURSE: "Shouldn't it be sterilized, doctor?"
DR. BENWAY: "Very likely but there's no time."
  • I have done similar things for charity events loads of times. The best way that I found of making things almost fraud free is to use some unusual paper or thin card that will not be normally found by a copier machine.
Many high street store will have loads to choose from, if you want to be a bit devious use a patterned card and print the tickets in such a way that the print and pattern are repeated in a way only known to you.

For example if you used a pattern with wedding bells on it you could make sure that the words "Give this man a drink" always puts the "G" inside a bell. You may not need to go to so much trouble for your guests though.

What you can be certain of though is that the bar staff will not be able to keep track of a numbered ticket system, they will be too busy.

Or just use nice card and give out the drink tokens on arrivial, that way your ushers can control them. You might even choose to additionally have non alcoholic tokens so the kids dont get into trouble.

    Hope this helps

Publisher has MailMerge! I've been fighting Publisher 2000 to produce results from MailMerge for about a day last week, and would suggest that you set up an Excel spreadsheet as follows:

    Number
    1
    2
    3
    4
    all the way up to
    250

It's much easier to generate these numbers in Excel than in a single-column Word table. You then use the Excel spreadsheet as the Data Source, and insert a field called "Number" in the Publisher document where you want the number to print.

Easy -- when you've done it...

    John

PS Publisher 2003's MailMerge is more bug- and hassle-free!
  • I've used ticketprinting.co.uk to buy tickets then got the software to do this. If you want help pm me.

    Cheers.
