Looking for cheap External Hard Drive

I have a HP laptop that states the same 'Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller' and I definitely have USB 2.0 ports.

Where did you buy your laptop from? Do you have a list of the specifications or the exact model number? Maybe that will tell you whether you do have USB 2.0 or 1.1

I think if it has the word 'enhanced' it means you have USB 2.0. Even if you didn't, an external USB 2.0 drive would still work, albeit at the much slower USB 1 speed.

The one I posted was similar value (if not better) due to over double capacity at i think double the price if i can remember correctly

Anyway if you dont have usb 2.0 it will still work perfectly fine but run at standard USB speeds. In other words. if you transfer a movie over.. expect to be waiting a bit

You could always buy a USB 2.0 PCI Card PCI cards are actually not too hard to fit!! Open the side of the case when your pc is next off and you'll see a motherboard, loads of random things, and on the bottom left side 2 to 5 slots if ya like. Some of them will hav estuff in.. some of them not.

All you do is stick the pci card into an empty slot and stick the side back on!!! Its the easiest thing to do
