DELL and operating system CD

Just been looking at the DELL website. The desktops I was looking at required an extra cost to get an operating system CD:confused:

Why is that?

What happens if I have a problem and need to re-load?

Not sure I like the thought of that:eek:

I installed normal XP and downloaded the drivers from the dell website....

(Most wireless adapters in built to dell laptops are generic and work straight away)

  • I would say pay the extra fiver or whatever, one day you'll need it..

Other people on here have called up Dell afterwards and they have sent one for free, I don't know if that works every time though..
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

I've heard this but been unable to find it on my 5150. Anybody know where the program is (either on the hard disk or start menu?)

got the feeling it was on the earlier ones, then they took it off as it was too useful and they could charge you money for the disks :)
