Its suggesting that you have not plugged the monitor into the computer.
Make sure that there are no extra ports where you could be able plug the monitor.
It might be running a graphics card with the onboard graphics disabled and if you were plugged into the onboard graphics, you would get this result.0 -
Thanks gib_gib, I have just had a look and there are no extra ports for the monitor, Im sure its in the correct port as it is colour coded, could there be any other reason????0

Since this computer has just been bought and moved, there is a chance that the gfx card has shifted in the move. You might need to give it a push to make sure the card is solid in its slot.
If you do not want to do that, you need to see if the monitor and computer work and to do this you will need to plug it into a computer/monitor that you know that works.0 -
Thanks will try it0

As Gib mentions it's likely the graphics card has become dislodged as I had the same problem a few years ago.
If you're not confident about doing it yourself, then ask around before you take it to a shop or call out an engineer as it's quite a simple task really & most people would be happy to oblige if they know what they are doing. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I have tried the monitor on my pc and its working fine, so how do I do the graphics card?0

First and fore most make sure your computer is unplugged from everything.
Touch a radiator to discharge any static electricity
You will need to open your computer case, either take the side off or take the whole rear case off. It will just be a few silver screws.
You will be confronted with a vision like my enclosed picture
the graphics card is the object circled in pink, the other end is where you should have been trying to plug your monitor.
You just need to give it a firm but gentle push/wiggle to make sure its in place. You might want to unscrew the screw at the left hand side of the graphics card and then put it back in just to make sure.0 -
gib gib - top advice and forgive me for being a smartypants - only thing to add might be - GFX cards can have a clip at the end (usually white) that clicks into place when it is seated properly.dont confuse me with facts I need to think here!!!!0

true true.
But beware not all have them, looking at the 5 motherboards that I have in my house only 2 have those little white clips. Admittedly one of those mobos has 2 on it, but that is beside the point.
p.s nice pants0
