Communication Indemnity

I have received a letter requesting that I sign a Communication Indemnity. The letter is from the Trustees of a trust that I am a beneficiary of.

I am not sure what this is for. The letter states that it will allow the Trustees to liase with me by telephone and email. Bearing in mind that I have been liasing with the trustees by telephone and email for the last 5 years, why are they doing this?

If anyone has any thoughts on the matter I would be most grateful to hear them.

I'm not a lawyer, so this is just a guess.

Is it possible that the trust deed specifies that the trustees must communicate with you in writing? If that's the case, the trustees might have suddenly realised that they haven't been complying with the deed, and decided to regularise matters.

In your shoes I think I'd just write to the trustees and say what you've said above - they might or might not give you a sensible reasons, but at least you'd know more than you know now.
