Not switched Energy helpline -Scottish Power

On Thursday last September 16th I completed an application to switch my Electricity from Southern Electric to Scottish Power. I completed all my details including bank details and after reading the T&C clicked the confirm button.
Before doing this I printed off the details as they stood at that time. I then expected to receive an email confirming the switch transaction.
This failed to arrive and yesterday I email Energy Helpline to query the failure of the email.
I do not have any transaction no for this and I received an email back from EHL asking for this or my Post code.
I emailed this back to them but decided to call them. The person I spoke to at their Customer Services told me that there is no transaction and that it obviously the transaction failed for some reason. She has asked me to call their line asking again for the quotes.
I am reluctant to do this just in case as all my bank details are on the origional application. I am scared that I may double up the application and don't want to go down that road.
Also last week SP had a £35 reward for the switch and this was only valid until Thursday.
Any views on what I should do next?

Sue

Don't worry. Any bank details will be only for use in a direct debit.

The supplier won't set up 2 direct debits for two different applications to the same property. My guess is the supplier doesn't even have the first application which EHL themselves suggest didn't go through.

Worst case scenaio (which is extremely unlikely) is the supplier does set up 2 DDIs and attempt to charge you twice. You will be fully covered by the terms of the DD guarantee.

If there is no record by you, EHL or the supplier confirming the request for switching, all you can do is apply again as requested. It menas you may have lost the £35 special deal that only applied last week. SP often have some special promotion on, so maybe wait for the next deal if that is what you really want ... but personally I prefer the cheapest supplier that meets my needs and look at cashback as the cherry on the icing on the cake if it ever finally materialises.

I will often take screen dumps of a confirmation page when applying online should a dispute over the transaction later be necessary.

Thanks for that advice. I am now back to looking for the best cashback. Last week SP had a special deal of £35 back for Electricity plus the £15 I would have from EHL.
That SP offer was only until last Thursday and has now disappeared.

    Thanks again for the information.

I have just received a response to my email I sent earlier in a response to their email.
EH tell me that their is no record anywhere of my request to switch. They reckon that the application may have been incomplete in some way and advise me to apply again.
Thanks for your response in any case

I have just called SP and they too have no record of my application. So that is that! I had expected that I might be put under some pressure by the person I spoke with to make the switch with them. I was impressed that they didn't!
I will now begin again to process the order and look for the best cash back I can now find.
Again thanks to all who responded to my query.

Hi Susan...Quidco are doing £105 dual and half that for single move. I was with SP just over a year ago, the online service is good the direct debits are not evened out as with other suppliers. When it comes to the first complete quarter into the summer, you have to keep an eye on them to reduce.

    Thanks Ken
I just used the energy helpline and note that the £35 off for SP is still there + £15 switch from EHL.
I want to make the switch with them but am wondering if I should try to do it again online or whether I should call them.
    Advise appreciated.
