Text is slow to appear in Hotmail window - only on my older desktop

I've recently switched to using Windows Live Beta for my hotmail account but noticed that when I use it with my desktop (P3 800, 256MB RAM) the text is slow to appear, like the screen only updates every second, which is confusing when I'm typing an email as when I press backspace and type the correct word it takes time to appear. 
I've done all the windows updates I can think of but it's still awfully annoying on the desktop. My laptop which is fairly new has no probs at all.
I hope it's something simple like a tickbox option somewhere!

sounds like a memory issue perhaps your pc is using too many resources? so, its slow to update
