Sending 40 euros to Netherlands

My first post and hopefully in the right section! I've bought an item privately from someone in The Netherlands for 40 euros (includes postage costs), and my problem is paying him without extortionate costs. The person doesn't have or want PayPal, and isn't keen on other methods I know, Western Union and Moneygram. I have his bank details including IBAN and BIC numbers.
My bank wants £20 for this transaction. Does anyone know if there is a way I can pay this relatively small amount of 40 euros to the person in The Netherlands without incurring the £20 charge from my bank? I know a lot of online places won't deal with a transfer as low as this 40 euros.
Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Are you sure this transaction is genuine, it sounds a bit dodgy to me. You could end up paying and not getting what you have brought. It is easy to set up a paypal account, so maybe you should suggest this to the seller and see what they say0

Sending EUR40 cash would appear the "least expensive" option to you - usual potential pitfalls apply though.
I'd say there is little problem in actually sending the cash via mail in terms of it getting there but you have to be trusting that the said item will be sent to you (that would apply to any payment method though !).

I've never used them personally but this service might be able to help with an international transfer to the sellers bank account for less than your bank charges - http://auctionchex.com/0

If this person is known to you and you trust them then I'd take a chance and put cash in the post. If they are not known to you then I would be very suspicious of the fact that they won't accept Paypal. Paypal is such a cheap, easy and secure way to send money that if somebody refuses to accept it I'd wonder if I could trust them.

Thanks for the advice so far. I do know the person I'm buying from is legitimate. It's a market place site I've used and this is a well established member. I've bought through it before, only then I was able to pay by PayPal. Apparently though PayPal is not so widely used in The Netherlands. I'm off to have a look at the Auctionchex possibility which does sound worth a look.0

Go to your local bank.
Change Sterling into Euros
Put Euros in envelope
Post to seller.0 -
I think I'm in the minority with this. But, I'd have to be really desperate to get what the seller is offering to send cash through the post.
If this person in Holland is set up to do some business (even small scale) on the Internet I'm very surprised he hasn't got Paypal.0
